Samsung Expands its Digital Range with two stylish compacts

4 December 2007 - Samsung Cameras, leaders in digital imaging, today announced the release of two new cameras to their popular award-winning S series. The 7 mega pixel S760 and the 8 mega pixel S860 are easy to use and packed with innovative features.

Both cameras combine Samsung’s advanced image processing technology and Samsung’s Intelligent Face Recognition Technology. Samsung’s Intelligent Face Recognition Technology, detects the subject’s face and automatically adjusts auto focus and auto exposure to ensure better composition and image quality in portraits. The AF function instantaneously recognises the faces of subjects and accurately focuses on them, then the AE function takes over, setting the appropriate exposure to ensure the highest image quality.

The Samsung NV20 is an 12 megapixel point and shoot camera with a 3x optical zoom lens housed in a brushed black stainless steel body with a 2.5 inch touch screen LCD.

The Samsung NV20 shoots at an ISO setting of up to 3200, has 14 scene modes, VGA movies (up to 30 frames per second) and 20 megabytes of internal memeory and has face detection and shake reduction technology.

The Samsung i85 is an 8 megapixel point and shoot digital camera with a 5x optical zoom (36 to 180mm), a 3.0 inch LCD screen and image stabilization.

The i85 has a shutter speed of up to 1/2000, ISO of up to 1600, 256MB of internal memory and it has a macro mode that focusses as close as 1cm. It has built in stereo speakers to play WAV, MP3 and movie files.

The i85 measures just 3.74x2.42x0.8 inches (credit card size) and is cased in a silver aluminum body.

The Samsung L830 is another addition to the point and shoot range of digital cameras announced by Samsung today. It features an 8.1 megapixel image sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5 inch LCD screen - all bundled up in a slim aluminum body measureing 3.74 x 2.32 x .83 inches.

The Samsung L830 comes with 9 scene modes, ISO of up to 1600, shake reduction/image stabilization as well as face detection technology.

It also features an 'E' button for in camera editing (adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, fixing red eye etc). It also features a new 'fun' mode which allows composite photos (up to four images brought together as one), sharpening and softening focus on different parts of the image and adding photo frames, stickers and text bubbles to images - all in camera.

The Samsung L830 has 16 megabytes of internal memory and takes SDHC/SD cards.

The Samsung S85 is a new 9 megapixel entry level point and shoot digital camera.

It features a 5x optical zoom lens (equivalent of 38-190mm) and super macro mode with focussing as close as 1cm from the lens.

The Samsung S85 features shake reduction, face recognition and 'wise shot' (which takes two shots in a row, one with image stablilization and one with the flash so that you can choose later which is best - a handy feature for low light shooting.

This camera has a 2.5 inch LCD screen and takes SDHC/SD memory cards (and has 20 megabytes of internal memory). Video recording is at VGA resolution (640x480) at 30 frames per second.

The Samsung L83T is an 8 megapixel point and shoot digital camera with a 3x optcial zoom lens. It features a 2.5 inch LCD screen and metal body casing measuring 3.67 x .71 x 2.27 inches.

The Samsung L83T has a 1cm super macro feature and face detection and anti shake technologies.

It has a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 and a motion capture feature for shooting of up to 7 pictures in a second. ISO range goes as high as 1600.

The Samsung L83T takes SDHC and SD cards and shoots video in MPEG-4.

The L83T offers shooters a 1cm super macro function and a maximum shutter speed of 1/2,000 sec. Additionally, the L83T includes a motion capture feature that allows users to take up to seven pictures a second. When in low-light situations, shooters can rest assured that their images will come out sharp and clear as the L83T boasts an ISO equivalent of 1600 and is outfitted with Samsung’s ASR (Advanced Shake Reduction) image stabilization system to minimize the effects of hand shake and ensure that the best shots are captured even in dimly lit conditions.

The Samsung S1030 is a 10.1 megapixel compact camera with a 3x optical zoom lens.

It features a 2.7 inch LCD display, ISO range of 50 to 1600 and shutter speeds of up to 1/1000 and 45 megabytes of internal memory.

The Samsung S1030 features manual control with aperture priority, shutter priority and full manual modes in addition to 10 of the normal shooting modes (Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Backlight, Fireworks, Dawn and Beach & Snow). It also has Auto Macro so that there's not need to switch into a Macro mode to focus clos up. It measures 99.6 x 61.8 x 26.95 mm.

The Samsung S830 is an 8 megapixel compact camera with a 3x optical zoom.

It features a 2.7 inch LCD display, ISO range of 50 - 1600 and shutter speeds of up to 1/1000.

The Samsung S830 features some manual control with aperture priority, shutter priority and full manual modes in addition to a variety of the normal shooting modes. It also has Auto Macro so that there's not need to switch into a Macro mode to focus clos up.

The Samsung S830 will hit stores in the Spring (northern hemisphere) of this year.
